The Sex Pistols might have a new album this year. It has been 30 years since the one and only album ‘Never Mind The Bollocks, Here’s The Sex Pistols’ but Johnny Rotten, Glen Matlock, Steve Jones and Paul Cook are getting ready to hit the studio reports Undercover.com.au.

Last year, the band re-recorded ‘Anarchy In The UK’ for Guitar Hero III. A new version of ‘Pretty Vacant’ was done at the same time but remains unreleased.

The line-up then went on to play eight live shows, seven in the UK and one in the USA.

Later this year, the Pistols will reform for a fully-fledged tour of Festivals. The new material is to modernize the setlist.

‘Never Mind The Bollocks, Here’s The Sex Pistols’ was their one and only studio album. It was released in October, 1977. Johnny Rotten left the group in January 1978. It was truly a short story.

The first reunion happened in 1996. The Sex Pistols toured the world for the Filthy Lucre Tour,

In 2002, they got back together for a show to mark The Queen’s Golden Jubilee. North America was treated to ‘The Piss Off’ tour in 2005, and next came last year’s shows.

With his “Rape of the World” tour set to terrorize Orlando, FL, tomorrow night, Marilyn Manson spoke with Rock Daily about what he has planned this time around. With bassist Twiggy Ramirez back in the fold, Manson promises that fans will “get a little bit of what they may have seen in the past, but turned up to a thousand.” That includes many older songs that Manson has refrained from playing in recent years “because they didn’t sound right” without Twiggy’s assistance. The reacquisition of Ramirez has invigorated Manson, who says, “It’s hard for us when we get together because we’re a real bad mixture of trouble. It’s going to be difficult for people to keep us from tearing our faces off.”

Twiggy may not be the only surprise Manson has up his sleeve, as his band’s recent tour with Slayer seems to have reaped some benefits. “I’ve invited Kerry King, who’s become a good friend of mine, to come play on stage with us for a few songs here and there. Hopefully we can not only bring Twiggy back but bring Satan back into one giant evil cocktail that’s one thousand proof.” Also figuring into that mixture is opening band Ours.

Manson was also eager to talk about his beloved film project, Phantasmagoria: Visions of Lewis Carroll. While the WGA strike and his current tour have pulled him away from the film, Manson predicts shooting will begin in either Prague or Romania in the late spring. “I’m going to be able to make a better film now because I had time to step away from script. I think its going to be a very disturbing film.”

Courtney Love has said she wants to Half Nelson actor Ryan Gosling to play her late husband Kurt Cobain in a film.

Love, who is executive producer on the $60 million movie Heavier Than Heaven, has also asked Scarlett Johansson to portray her, according to British paper The Mirror.

The movie is based on Charles Cross’s biography of Cobain.

A source said: “Kirsten Dunst was rumoured to be in the frame, but Courtney really admires Scarlett and has already sent the contract out for her to sign. Courtney even copied Scarlett’s sleek blonde movie look when she was in London for the Fashion Rocks party last year.

“She wants the best actors to portray them–she will be on set all the time giving Scarlett and Ryan advice on what it was like being one part of the most notorious couples since Sid and Nancy. It will be explosive.”

PARK CITY, Utah – After a career playing to sold-out stadiums, U2 did what their fans have done for years — stood in line to see U2 perform.

That concert was “U2 3D,” a film of the band’s 2005-06 Vertigo tour, shot at several shows in South America with new 3-D technology.

“I was really hoping we weren’t crap after all these years. Luckily we weren’t,” guitarist The Edge told The Associated Press before the band donned plastic glasses to watch the movie’s premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on Saturday night.

The Edge, joined by singer Bono, drummer Larry Mullen and bassist Adam Clayton, joked about the absurdity of seeing themselves perform after playing together for more than 30 years.

“It’s kind of horrific,” to see himself on stage in 3-D, said Bono. “It’s bad enough on a small screen. Now you get to see the lard arse 40-foot tall.”

The Edge said the 3-D technology allowed “the songs to shine through,” though he was surprised to see the chemistry of the band in the details on screen, and how far apart his bandmates were on stage.

“Are you saying you felt lonely up there?” said Bono, smiling.

“No, I felt lonely for Larry,” The Edge replied.

“He likes being on his own,” said Bono. “Didn’t you bring him back a bottle of water?”

Bono said he loved playing to the enthusiastic audiences of Mexico City, Buenos Aires, and Rio de Janeiro.

“Irish people are essentially Latin people who don’t know how to dance,” he said. “When people are screaming and roaring and shouting, the humbling thing is to realize it’s not really for the band or artist on the stage. It’s for their connection with the songs. A song just can own you … . I think that’s why concerts are so powerful. If that song is such a part of your life, and you hear it, it’s too much almost.”

Bono also expressed hope that the film would allow more people to experience their music, especially teenagers and college students who might not be able to afford the pricey tickets to their sold-out shows.

The band is working with longtime producers Daniel Lanois and Brian Eno on a new album that will merge Lanois’ respect for traditional music and Eno’s futuristic sound.

“Music like the band had formed on Venus, and somewhere between that is our next album,” Bono said. “Where they join, where something feels always existing but you never heard it before, that seems to be what the two of them bring out in us.”

Their sophomore album, Brain Thrust Mastery, is out March 17 in the UK. Drummer Michael Tapper, who helped form the group, appears to be missing from the dapper duo’s videos and photos with no word about it.

But missing member and hefty sums we’ll be shelling out for the import aside, at least their shows page indicates they’ll be touring “all spring, summer, fall, and then if we like it we’ll keep going.”

Before Beatlemania hit the U.S., before their debut album Please, Please Me even saw daylight, John, Paul, George and Ringo took the stage at the Star Club in Hamburg, Germany. The show itself was small, with only 20-30 people in attendance. After 33 years, Fuego Entertainment has purchased these exclusive recordings for distribution from producer Jeffrey Collins, who discovered the lost tracks in his personal collection.

“I’m extremely excited about this acquisition and the future release of this historical Beatles album,” said Hugo Cancio, president and CEO of Fuego Entertainment. “They are one of the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed music groups in the history of popular music.”

Circa 1962, the recordings were made right before the band signed with EMI. Of the 15 songs, only seven were later released. The show was one of many recorded at the Star Club as a means of marketing the venue as well as the bands themselves. Not to be confused with the previous Star Club bootlegs, this show preceded that performance. It was also the very first time Ringo Starr took the stage as one of the Fab Four.

The tracks include live versions of “A Taste of Honey” and “Hippy Hippy Shake,” the latter of which includes Tony Sheridan. The tapes also include covers of Maurice Williams’ “Do You Believe” and Hank Williams’ “Lovesick Blues.” Kingsize Taylor’s band, The Dominoes, also makes an appearance, backing tracks such as “I Saw Her Standing There,” “Money” and “Twist and Shout.”

The album will be released as an Echo-Fuego joint venture, and a date should be announced soon. Without a doubt, the release of these recordings will be highly anticipated as they are a snapshot of the earliest days of the Beatles’ legacy. Although the release of the highly anticipated film version of Where the Wild Things Are may have been pushed back to 2009, work on the film’s soundtrack seems to be moving full speed ahead. Director Spike Jonze has teamed up once more with famed film composer Carter Burwell (Adaptation, Being John Malkovich). But Burwell won’t be the only one setting the whimsical score for the famed children’s book.

As previously reported, Karen O, lead singer of Yeah Yeah Yeahs, has been rumored to be linked to the project as well. Although the extent of her involvement has remained fuzzy, Burwell has stated on his website that O has completed several musical pieces for the film. Further reports from O’s solo album producer/Jonze’s brother, Sam Spiegel, verify the songstress is “pretty much doing the whole thing.” Guess that’s one more reason to be excited about our favorite bedtime story coming to life on the silver screen.

Colour Revolt is staging a coup.

The much-anticipated first full-length album from the Oxford, Miss. wailers of Colour Revolt is set to officially overthrow your musical government on April 1. Keeping it local so as to stay under the radar and take authority-types by surprise, the band recorded Plunder, Beg, and Curse at Sweet Tea Recording Studio with producer Clay Jones (Modest Mouse, Elvis Costello), and will release it on Fat Possum Records. According to the band’s bio, Oxford, the site of all this underground action, is “a city famous for its many dignified dead.” Where better to start a revolution?

The band turned quite a few heads in 2006 (including ours) with its only record to date, a self-titled EP which was released on both the Esperanza Plantation and Tiny Evil (Interscope) imprints.

Because every good revolt takes planning, the Mississippians have released a track list for the upcoming record and a free download of the first song, “Naked and Red,” through Fat Possum.

After touring with the likes of Menomena, Manchester Orchestra, Black Lips, Brand New, Dinosaur Jr., Okkervil River and Explosions In The Sky, the band is stopping by SXSW before heading back on the road. Colour Revolt seems, as ever, ready for battle. “To be bludgeoned to death by sound, by music, says Colour Revolt. We have you and are not afraid.”
